Abstract
This communication presents a new multi-resolution composite array (MRCA) concept for digital beamforming (DBF) array to achieve very high angular-resolution with considerably less array elements. Furthermore, the beamforming performances of DBF radars with two proposed multi-resolution composite arrays were investigated with numerical experiments and compared to a conventional full-filled array and a multiplicative array to verify our concepts.
