Abstract
In this paper, the use of a non-cooperative FM broadcasting transmitter as illuminator for the bistatic radar system was investigated. A signal processing scheme is developed that allows airborne targets to be detected and tracked using the sound carrier of the FM broadcast. This scheme requires no synchronization with the transmitter, and uses MUSIC algorithm to estimate the directions and time delays of several targets from received echoes. The simulation results show that targets can be detected correctly.
