Programme for an undergraduate course on instrumentation and measurement

The author presents a program he finds adequate for a one (or two) semester undergraduate course on instrumentation and measurement in electrical engineering. He states the main objectives of this course and identifies the principal subjects that should be included in its program. Implementation of the program, with special emphasis on its experimental component and teaching staff preparation, is also examined. Conclusions and considerations resulting from the author´s experience while teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on instrumentation and measurement at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST), Lisbon, are also presented. Cooperation in this domain between the IST and Portuguese speaking African countries, namely Angola and Cabo Verde, is also discussed
