Abstract :
At the 2005 general meeting of the Power Engineering Society held in San Francisco, California, the Southern African Power Pool and NEPAD flagship project, the Western Power Corridor, was presented. This paper updates the project diary of events, presents the next steps for the pre-feasibility studies and records the closure of the first pass planning studies to yield the proposal of extra high voltage DC transmission coupled with run of the river hydro generation
