Abstract :
The transition from cost-based, traditional markets to market-based, LMP markets can be challenging in every aspect of the utility business. My presentation will discuss the challenges faced in managing the risk of Generation Asset Owners and Load Serving Entities and the impacts on Risk Management and Energy Trading Companies, preparing for this transition. My presentation will talk about: ■ How does resource management and trading in traditional markets differ from that of LMP Markets? ■ What paradigm shifts are needed in viewing the markets? ■ What are the impacts of LMP markets on trading? ■ How does the RTO market alter the way the day and term trader do their business? ■ What new tools are needed to quickly make decisions in the LMP markets? ■ How do the LMP markets impact our generation assets? ■ How do our approaches to strategy development change as we move from traditional markets to LMP Markets? ■ What risks exist if we do not vary your approach to developing strategies in the new markets? ■ What hedging opportunities that are available in the new markets and how are they used? ■ What approaches can be used to develop optimized bidding strategies for your portfolio?
