Abstract :
Common industry practise is to specify transmitter output power at 1 dB gain compression. This paper presents simulation results showing that performance can differ significantly between amplifiers with different compression characteristics. Alternative specifications for SSPA performance and system tradeoffs including adjacent channel and intersymbol interference, among others, are discussed.
