Abstract
E-learning has been revolutionized by the developments in modern ICT. However, the use of appropriate ICT and the pedagogy are still research challenges in e-learning. This paper describes an approach to ontology driven e-learning that has been implemented as agent software. The theoretical basis for e-learning ontology has been provided by the learning ontologies in Buddhist philosophy. This research has postulated to drive the e-learning process by means of the evolution of a specific learning ontology, called `iddhipada´ that is described by four mental factors, namely, desire, effort, thoughtfulness and investigation. The test version of the e-learning agent has been developed to run on Apache Web server connecting with MySQL. Agent will be linked with Moodle soon
