  • Abstract
To monitor the tachypnea of pig, computer vision was introduced to construct a model for the pig\´s abdominal respiration based on intercept. The breathing mainly showed markedly dilating and shrinking at ridge-abdomen of pig. Based on the centroid of pig\´s contour, the intercept between two back-abdomen edges was obtained in vertical direction. We call the intercept "Back-Abdomen Edge Intercept Descriptor" (BAEID) as an index reflecting the fluctuating one. According to the BAEID, the respiratory state can be recorded at pig standstill in a clip. Pig abdominal respiration frequence in the same clip was respectively detected by computer vision method and artificial one. Experiment shows that the correlation coefficient is 99.6% between both them.
