Abstract
The author presents an overview of the physical fundamentals, material properties, and operating principles of electrooptic sensors suitable for high-voltage measuring systems. Emphasis is placed on Kerr devices for pulse waveform characterization, as well as on bulk optics and integrated optics devices based on the Pockels effect for steady-state voltage measurements
