Abstract :
The absence of research about temperature effects in friction makes it difficult to apply model based friction compensation technique to the mechanical systems operating in large temperature range. The need for accurate friction model with the consideration of temperature is urgent. The incomplete and ambiguity knowledge of friction, however, lead to the difficulty of modeling friction in classical mathematic form. With fuzzy logic system, friction can be modeled as function of velocity and temperature concisely. In this paper, fuzzy logic system is applied to model the complicated behaviors of friction over large temperature range (from -10degC to 40degC). A cascaded fuzzy friction model is proposed to estimate the friction varying with the velocity and temperature
