Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. MSC/EMAS is a new program for analyzing electromagnetic fields in one, two, and three dimensions using the finite-element method. A unique formulation of Maxwell´s equations allows MSC/EMAS to treat general E&M behavior by solving for four unknowns at each grid point: three components of the vector potential and the time-integrated electric scalar potential. Analyses include statics (nonlinear), frequency response, transient analysis (nonlinear). and real and complex eigenvalues. Applications include resonant cavities, microwave devices, rail guns, and magnet design. Combined use of nonlinear analysis of circuits and finite-element models is also possible. Model building and postprocessing are performed using MSC/XL, a modern. menu-driven graphics program design specifically for electromagnetic field analysis
