Abstract :
We have demonstrated that an electrically small ENG shell driven by an electromagnetic field acts as a dipole itself hence as an inductive element (i.e., as a capacitor loaded with a negative permittivity) and that the ENG shell can be designed to produce a distributed inductance that can be matched to the capacitance of the dipole antenna to form a resonant CL circuit. This resonant configuration produces a significant enhancement of the radiated power with a corresponding decrease in the ratio of the reactive and radiated powers. We consider here the design of a metamaterial that will eventually be used to achieve an ENG spherical shell which will lead to the predicted dipole-ENG shell based EESA.
