Abstract :
The effects of the finite nature of the grounded dielectric slab on the input impedance of the microstrip patch antenna are investigated. The approximate closed-form spatial domain Green´s functions of the vector and scalar potentials derived recently for a horizontal electric dipole placed over a finite grounded dielectric slab are used in the method of moments formulation of the microstrip patch antenna. For different substrate sizes, the input impedance and the resonant frequency values are calculated and compared with the experimental and numerical results reported in the literature.
