Abstract :
A machine vision based fuzzy inspection model for detecting present and missing clips is developed. Before arriving at this model different statistical approaches in image processing have been investigated and their capabilities to solve the problem are presented. We have found out that no single statistical approach has correctly identified present and missing clips in all the test cases. A more robust model based on exclusive-OR operator is proposed. This model is a 6 input - 1 output Sugeno model. The proposed model correctly identified all 706 test images in our data base
