Abstract
In this paper the problem of voltage collapse is studied under the system operator´s point of view, who should take the correct actions to avoid voltage collapse phenomena. Voltage collapse occurs when the network is under heavy load conditions and the SO has to decide which parameters, among those under his control, to use to move the collapse point away from the current operation point. This paper presents the optimization model used to compute the loading margin to voltage collapse and the corresponding sensitivities with respect to some typical control parameters. A method to assist the SO is presented based on the construction of a list with the most effective control parameters and its expected effect
