Abstract
Results from the 1991 NASA Greenland airborne altimetry experiment and the 1992 Navy airborne experiment over Greenland are presented. Since the shape of the Advanced Application Flight Experiment (AAFE) radar altimeter return waveform changes significantly in areas of Greenland where there are large sub-surface ice features, such as in the percolation zone, a simple algorithm has been developed to determine when the waveform change takes place. Using this algorithm the approximate diagenetic zone transitions of Greenland are determined and the results are compared to the diagenetic zone map published by Benson in 1962
