Implementation of successful pre-payment systems: A combination of project management and good management

Several electrification projects based on prepayment metering systems have been installed over the last few years. It is pointed out that not all of these have been a success. A prepayment metering project consists of many facets in addition to the technology used. These, such as community involvement, project team organization, and commitment, are all vital to the project success. The author examines the requirements and needs of the various parties involved in a prepayment project and suggests ways of improving the probability of success
