Abstract :
The effects of the medium proportion on the seedling height, ground diameter, and photosynthesis of Carya cathayensis in containerized seedling were studied. The results showed that the effects of nine medium proportion on C. cathayensis containerized seedling growth were different. The seedling height and ground diameter were shorter under the control than those of the other treatments. The seedling grew well under medium H6, H7 and H8, with ground diameter of 0.79 cm, 0.67 cm and 0.71 cm, and seedling height of 40.09 cm, 37.59 cm and 38.91 cm, respectively. The photosynthetic rate of containerized seedling was the highest under medium H6 (7.89 μmol.m-2.s-1). Nitrogen level in the medium was highly correlated with photosynthesis rate, while potassium level was highly correlated with seedling height and phosphorus level was highly correlated with ground diameter. In all, the optium medium proportion for seedling growth was H6, including peat: perlite: garden soil: calcium-magnesium phosphate fertilizer=39:30:30:1.
