Abstract
The paper introduces and provides a simple proof of an interesting matrix inversion identity involving subspaces. Using this identity, new insights and interpretations are provided about beam space-based adaptive beamformers and the generalized sidelobe canceller. In addition, system performance measures and losses in terms of the achievable SINR and deflection coefficient can be interpreted and predicted in beam space using the framework of subspaces.
