Abstract
Wind turbine electrical generation systems (WTGSs) with doubly-fed induction generators and variable speed capabilities have become popular because of its wide operation range and quality power output compared to the old fixed-speed squirrel-cage generators. The growing WTGS implantation have also increased the grid incidenses due to the wind parks and thus the study of the design of the control to improve the response to disturbances of these systems has become more important. The present work describes accurately a model for the wind-wheel, the transmition chain, the induction generator, the back to back converter (including the crow bar) and the electrical network. Also the simulation results of a voltage-dip response obtained from the implementation of the model are presented.
