Abstract
Measurements using frequency domain interferometry (FDI) are presented using the middle and upper (MU) radar in Japan. The goal of FDI observations is to enhance the altitude resolution of conventional atmospheric Doppler radars. As an introduction, the basic theory behind the technique is provided along with explanatory data. The FDI data is used to estimate the horizontal wind vector during an intense jet stream over Japan. In addition, turbulent layers are observed with the “high-resolution” technique
