Abstract
The paper presents a novel approach in designing high impedance surfaces. The unit cell geometry for the desired artificial magnetic conductor is similar to a 4 port band pass filter. Various unit cells are proposed based on this approach. Using this approach, a 2D planar AMC with cell size of about 0.06 of the free space wavelength at the cut off frequency is achieved.
