Abstract :
At present, HD video player becomes more and more important in video area. But only by using CPU, HD video player can´t play smoothly because of low computing power. GPU is often used in high performance computing now. Therefore, a new HD video player method based on GPU technology is proposed in this paper. It uses open-source video codec solutions for the VLC and VAAPI hardware acceleration interface with VDPAU(Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix) back-end support and NVIDIA´s graphics GPU for high-speed rendering. It is practically to get better results by using GPU technology on hardware accelerated player. The method that mentioned in this paper has been successfully applied to some television systems.
