Abstract :
Wide use of micron-size bubbles as contrast agents in ultrasound imaging puts forward a problem of adequate evaluation of bubble size distribution (SD). One of the most popular techniques for the measurement of particle SD in fluids in the range from a few nanometers to a few micrometers is dynamic light scattering (DLS). A new acoustical technique for bubble SD reconstruction is introduced. It is based on laser variant of pulse acoustical spectroscopy and it depends on the effective numerical solution of the ill-posed inverse problem. Its advantages over DLS are discussed.
