Abstract
This paper addresses the design of a low cost, compact printed antenna for the IEEE802.11g band (WiFi), built to operate in a wireless controlled robot. The solution here proposed involves the inclusion of an air layer between the ground plane and the substrate, in order to lower the total effective dielectric constant, thereby increasing the bandwidth. Measurements showed good agreement with the simulations, and the WiFi bandwidth specifications were fulfilled
