Abstract :
A dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) of half-cylindrical geometry made of a high permittivity (epsir = 69) ceramic material is investigated. The antenna is fed with a simple 50 Omega microstrip transmission line. The radiation characteristics of the DRA are broad and stable across a matching band of 2.32 to 2.5 GHz that includes the 2.4 GHz WLAN band (2.4 to 2.484 GHz). The DRA offers a maximum gain of 3.6 dBi at 2.44 GHz in the operating band
