Abstract :
In this study, a divided ground structure is proposed for the C-patch antenna. The separated ground structure of the C-patch antenna exhibits some characteristics than are similar to that of a dipole antenna. However some of the characteristics of the antenna are still strongly affected by the loaded capacitor. With hybrid characteristics. this type of antenna is called a C-patch dipole antenna. The range of the operating frequency variation for the C-patch dipole antenna is small compared with that of the C-patch antenna. However, the antenna efficiency of the C-patch dipole antenna is better than that of the C-patch antenna. As the size of antenna reduces, the radiation efficiency of the C-patch dipole antenna increases accordingly if designed properly. A bent strip antenna is presented in this paper to demonstrate the effect of the C-patch dipole antenna. This bent antenna exhibits characteristics of dual polarization that could be used as a polarization diversity antenna for low profile communication.
