Two promising antenna designs that have been presented recently, namely, a modified TEM double-ridged horn antenna and the Orion-type forward impulse radiating antenna are integrated in a complex simulation of a ground penetrating radar environment in order to compare the received reflection signatures of differently shaped test objects, that have been placed inside a homogeneous soil
