Abstract
The paper, taking ldquoAssistant Decision System of Electronic Government (E-Government) Based on WebGIS in Nanjingrdquo as an example, has established an unified background database which includes the foundation geographic data, thematic subject data from the governmental departments; realized some spatial operation functions to aid the government decision-making based on the E-Government information. The main spatial functions consist of data sharing, spatial information publishing, spatial information query, attribute query, spatial analysis, and so on. In addition, the paper has talked about some advanced spatial planning functions used in the major function oriental zoning planning in Nanjing, and a higher lever data sharing. Finally, the paper, making full use of the correlative technique of WebGIS and taking the background database as a carrier, has designed and developed Nanjing E-Government information system based on ArcIMS.
