Abstract
This paper discusses the characterization of a Hitachi ECN3067 three-phase inverter chip as an illustration of the capability of high-voltage integrated circuit (HVIC) technology. The ECN3067 can be used with conventional PWM to drive induction motors or permanent magnet machines. Its performance has been verified in three-phase PWM and six-phase squarewave exited drives. As a practical example, two devices have been successfully employed in a six-phase drive for a vacuum pump
