Abstract :
A complex representation of the signal path can provide a perspective of considerable value in radar system modelling. The main thread in a signal path model (SPM) is a digital representation, in both amplitude and phase, of the analogue/digital voltage. Such a model may simulate the transformations the signal undergoes as it is propagated throughout the entire radar system from signal generation to transmission, through propagation via the relevant medium to reception and signal processing. However, such a model can become a highly complicated software construct for which the designer´s focus will be divided between the desired end result-the radar model-and the necessary software engineering needed for implementation. This paper discusses the signal path modelling technique and explores its implementation using the signal processing worksystem
