Abstract :
The design and performance results of a W-band trans-twist microstrip patch reflect-array is described. The reflect-array performs the dual role of collimating the beam and twisting the polarization. The paper also points out the systematic aperture phase errors in the design due to the non-availability of a conjugate pair of patch dimensions that simultaneously delivers the required focusing and twisting. A few antennas were fabricated and tested at W-band. The measured performance showed high gain and low cross-polarization. The performance is very good, repeatable and close to the expected specifications.
