Abstract
Summary form only given. Hollow dielectric waveguides are applied as transmission lines in submillimetre and optical ranges, as conducting media in amplifiers and as optical frequency generators. In the submillimetre range hollow dielectric waveguides (in combination with rectangular waveguides) are successfully used as directional couplers. Numerical results are obtained for the constants of symmetrical normal E- and H-type propagation modes for isotropic and anisotropic waveguides. The characteristics of the field intensity distribution of symmetrical H0n- and E0n-modes in the isotropic dielectric waveguide are also calculated
