Abstract
We consider the application of turbo code for third-generation mobile communication systems. Based on a suboptimal algorithm named Maxtog-MAP, we deliberately design, simplify and optimize the algorithm according to the features of the DSP. As a result, we get the decoding speed up to 500 kbit/s on a DSP chip. The design is tested by DSP simulation tools. Furthermore, we also study two effective parameters (quantization factor and quantization level) in the DSP-based decoding scheme, and optimized results are given
