Abstract
This paper examines the possible effects of the magnetic field penetrating the susceptor of an induction heating furnace for the production of superalloy single crystal (SX) and directionally solidified (DS) components for both aeronautical and industrial gas turbines. The temperature is controlled on the internal side of the furnace with high accuracy. However, eddy currents induced in the superalloy components may produce local overheating that may cause undesired effects in terms of drift with respect to the standard manufacturing process.
