Abstract :
Ultrasonic wave propagation in a bimetallic weld is visualized by Laser Doppler Vibrometry. An advanced averaging procedure helps to get high resolution data sets. The visualization helps to understand wave propagation effects in such complicated inhomogeneous anisotropic materials. We demonstrate, that also grain structure images can be obtained out of the same data set by a method called Grazing Incidence Ultrasound Microscopy (GIUM).
