  • Abstract
    A general optimization scheme for the autonomous design of transverse waveguide filters has been presented. By employing a novel genetic algorithm in conjunction with a commercial FEM software package, the technique demonstrated here is readily applicable to a wide variety of waveguide filter problems. Specifically, the method was shown to yield excellent results for notch and bandpass filter responses when comparing ideal, simulated, and measured |S21| responses
