Abstract :
In this paper, a numerical and experimental analysis of the specific absorption rate (SAR) values for a cell phone with a clam shell form factor has been described. Different antenna locations and types have been analyzed. For all configuration and frequencies it has been shown that the SAR values in the tilt position, described in the IEEE measurement standard, are significantly lower than in the touch position. This seems to suggest that at least for the particular form factor investigated it is possible to identify a worst case test condition with respect to the SAR. As a consequence some of the test conditions specified by the compliance assessment procedure might be redundant as they systematically provide lower values with respect to the worst case configuration
