Abstract :
The paper presents a novel tapering procedure for the dielectric-inset periodic leaky-wave antenna (DIPLWA). The proposed configuration allows easy tapering of the aperture illumination to reduce the sidelobe levels. This is the main advantage with respect to the conventional DIPLWA, which was proposed a decade ago for millimeter waveband applications. The working mechanism of the novel tapering procedure is described.
