Abstract :
Cloud computing has emerged as an attractive computing model with the features of freely expanding, on-demand resource allocating, and power saving. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), a category of Cloud computing services, provides users an environment to run and control entire virtual machine instances deployed across variety physical resources. Portlets are defined as a standard API and provide a model for developing new portal components that can be shared by various portlet containers. This paper proposes a service model, core of which is building Portlet Services between Cloud computing platforms and Portlets to provide developers a framework for developing portlets of the Cloud computing platforms. To illustrate the model, we build Eucalyptus Portlet Services upon the open source Cloud computing platform Eucalyptus, and develop a set of portlets that based the services to present Eucalyptus platform into the web portal framework GridShpere.
