Abstract :
The operator method solving the diffraction by a semi-infinite grating (SIG) of plane metal strips is suggested in this paper. A point of peculiar interest in this method is the application of specific translation symmetry of the structure that means that no SIG properties change with its last element removed. This results in a nonlinear operator equation with respect to the unknown integral SIG scattering operator. The equation is approximately solved by the developed numerical technique, and the calculated characteristics of the SIG-reflected field in the region above the structure are analyzed for different numerical values of the exciting wave angle of incidence, the strip width and the incident field wavelength.
