Abstract
We propose that in an integrated solution aimed to provide users with quick, comprehensive, on-demand location-based services (LBS), the logical organizing of the varieties of location-based services and an effective architecture to implement the service delivery are two key parts. So, this paper presents a layered model for organizing the information and services related with location, which aims to facilitate service publishing, discovering and assembling. In the model, five layers are defined according to the type of content on which LBS focus and the level at which the LBS are developed from various data. Besides, a service delivery architecture applying service composition to provide comprehensive LBS is proposed in this paper. Within the service delivery architecture, service indexing and service composition are the main parts. Service indexing accomplishes services searching, dynamic services updating, service collecting and service composition accomplishes assembling atomic services on demand.
