Abstract :
Today´s ultracapacitor technology with advanced electrode materials and electrolytes, using high density 3-dimensional charged surfaces are capable of achieving thousands of farads of electrostatic energy storage. The challenge has been effectively designing these new components into high reliability applications at cost effective levels. The purpose of this paper is to provide design considerations and guidelines for utilizing ultracapacitors as the primary energy storage component to achieve high reliability power back up.
