Abstract :
In this paper, a computer based algorithm is developed for designing conventional split ring and thin wire based metamaterials with negative refractive index. The effects of the variation of the geometrical parameters on the effective permittivity and permeability of the designed structures are observed numerically to form optimum composite structures. At the end, one optimum design is given using the mentioned home-developed computer algorithm and it is shown that the refraction index of the designed metamaterial structure has a pronounced bandwidth where the permittivity and permeability are simultaneously negative.
