Abstract :
Over the years as the convergence of voice and data has moved forward there has been a lot of discussion about the merits of AC or DC as the primary power source for these integrated networks. Today if you were to look at the products being manufactured to support all the integrated equipment, you could easily believe that there has been no change in the equipment manufacturer´s requirements. But is that really true, or have we as an industry simply not kept up with what the true requirements are. This paper looks at these requirements and puts forward a few ideas about what should be happening.
