Abstract :
In our study, we present a metamaterial slab as a set of infinitely long elementary layers with cross dimension equals the dimension of unit cell of the metamaterial slab. Analytical and numerical optimization method for evaluating the complex effective dielectric and magnetic constants of the elementary layer of the metamaterial by means of solving of the appropriate optimization problem for the metamaterial slab under consideration is presented using the previously obtained long wave approximations of the complex effective constants for the slab considered as a bulk dielectric slab.
