  • Abstract
In this paper, the use of a conventional and adaptive PI control strategy is discussed. These are applied to a loop of flow process with a first-order dynamic subjected to disturbances. Gain tuning is achieved by using the pole assignment method, considering a desired output response, even in the presence of disturbances. We implement this method in a flow process with parametric changes, using a common industrial platform, as is a programmable logic controller (PLC), with virtual instrumentation and the industrial communication protocol OLE for process control (OPC).
