Abstract
A simple model for the low pass birdcage coil has been developed which includes the leg effects. This model has been implemented in both MathCad and Mathematica assuming each of which are widely in use. Using this model, various coil parameters such as signal to noise ratio, B field homogeneity, B field magnitude, etc., can be computed quickly. The efficiency of this model allows optimization of the coil geometry for weighting functions chosen for an application
