Advanced control desks for power stations

This paper considers the role of the operator on modern automated power plant. It reviews how the operator´s role has been supported by the control desk facilities that are provided, how these facilities have evolved as technology has advanced in recent years, and how well different designs have performed. This leads on to the work currently taking place within National Power to develop a new generation of Advanced Control Desk.
