Abstract
This paper proposes a localization algorithm that can be used to track and locate multiple mobile subjects in a wireless ad hoc network. An algorithm called adaptive dynamic localization is proposed. It is based on a dynamic multidimensional scaling (DMDS) method which reduces the localization error by adding virtual nodes till the network turns adequately dense and connected. The shortcomings which were identified in the form of random inconsistencies in the results were suitably dampened by implementing dead reckoning method enabled by a wearable position tracking (WePosT) system through sensor fusion technique. While the DMDS has exhibited adequate accuracy, we identified some key parameters which can appraise the dynamic MDS and lead to adaptive dynamic localization. We verified the proposed algorithm in various deployment situations.
